This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use the Talk Board application (“the App”). By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. Overview

Talk Board is an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) application. It allows users to select symbols and phrases and speak them using the device’s text-to-speech features. The App does not require an account and is designed to work primarily offline.

2. Information we collect

We do not operate an account system and we do not run a server that stores your communication boards, phrases, photos, or recordings as part of normal use.

Information you enter or create in the App is stored on your device, including for example:

• Board content, labels, and settings
• Quick phrases and recent spoken phrases
• Optional name you choose to display
• Optional photos or audio you add to tiles
• Backup files you export (stored where you save or share them)

We do not sell personal information.

3. Permissions

Depending on how you use the App, it may request:

• Microphone — only if you record a custom sound for a tile
• Camera — only if you take a photo for a tile
• Photos / media access — only if you choose an image for a tile
• Internet — only if you open an external link in the App; core features do not require internet

You may refuse optional permissions. The App can still be used for basic symbol boards and speech if system text-to-speech is available.

4. How information is used

Local data is used only to provide the App’s features on your device (communication boards, settings, speech, and optional personalization).

Text spoken by the App is processed by the device’s system text-to-speech engine. We do not send your spoken content to our own servers.

5. Sharing

If you use export or share features, a file may be created and passed to the system share menu. Any app or service you choose next is outside our control and subject to that service’s own policy.

We do not share your App content with third parties for advertising.

6. Third-party services

• Starter symbols may include Mulberry Symbols (see mulberrysymbols.org).
• The App is built with Flutter and other open-source components.
• App distribution is provided by Google Play or other app stores under their terms.

7. Children

The App may be used by families, including with children, under caregiver supervision. We do not create accounts for children and do not knowingly collect children’s personal information on our servers.

8. Data retention and deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it in the App, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App. Exported files remain where you saved or shared them.

9. Security

Local data is stored using the normal storage provided by your device’s operating system. Please protect your device with a lock screen if it contains personal photos or recordings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
